The Peaky Climbers

The amazing Julie Foulkes from Wimborne St Giles and her fellow Peaky Climbers have completed the national three peaks challenge. After completing Ben Nevis they were caught behind a serious RTA on the main road to Glasgow. This meant a massive detour, putting three and a half hours on their journey! After an eight and a half hour drive, they eventually started their climb up Scafell Pike - at 7.50 pm almost 4 hours behind schedule. They reached the summit in just 2 hours, by which time it was foggy and raining making the descent a challenge, as it was pitch black, slippery with very little visibility.

They started climbing Snowdon at 5.30 am and were finished by 10 am. They completed the challenge in an amazing 24 hrs and 36 minutes. Everyone did so well, and Julie says they couldn’t have done it without their amazing driver, Hugo. Just a few days before her daughter Rosie had a serious ear infection and was suffering from vertigo from the plane journey up but she still joined the challenge. Most of the way up Scafell and Snowdon she had bouts of almost fainting, she would stop for a little but kept going and never once gave in, what an incredibly amazing woman! The team arrived home at just before 8 pm exhausted after very little sleep from Thursday night and feeling very stiff but proud at a job well done. Well done to The Peaky Climbers Team and a huge thank you to Julie who was is donating money raised via sponsorship to In Jolly Good Company. So far she has raised almost £500, this will pay for 60 lunches at our Jolly Wimborne St Giles Days. You can still donate if you would like to.
