A delicious cream tea treat for our Step Outside Gardening Group

Food brings people together, and nothing does this better than a cream tea. We were treated like royalty with a donated hamper personally baked, delivered and served by Lisa Osman from All Hallows cookery school in Wimborne St Giles to celebrate National Cream Tea Day. Twenty of us sat and savoured the most delicious scones, including my personal favourite, rhubarb scones with ginger preserve.

Lisa made our tables look beautiful with lovely linens and fresh flowers. We sheltered from the hot sun under an awning specially made for us by our volunteer Tim. Tim went ‘above and beyond’ that afternoon, as not only did he put the awning up, ensuring it was safe for all our guests, he also mowed the grass surrounding our plots and then drove home again to collect his neighbour and friend Brian. Brian is also one of our amazing volunteers who along with Brenda, Sue and Fiona help Anni, Kate and I to keep the plots blooming. They all richly deserved this delightful treat.

As you can see from these great photos taken by the skilful Mr Brent Jones, we had a wonderful and memorable afternoon together (we made sure Brent had a scone of course and a cup of tea too).

Thank you to all who made such a glorious summer afternoon possible.

If you’d like to try your hand at baking Lisa’s delicious scones you’ll find the recipe here.
