Christmas celebrations at our Wimborne St Giles group
We had a wonderful afternoon together celebrating Christmas at our Wimborne St Giles Jolly group this week.
Kate accompanied us throughout the day with carols and Christmas songs on the piano which put us all in the festive mood.
We enjoyed Christmas Dinner complete with all the works courtesy of George, Viv and Claire from The Friendly Food Club, who put huge amounts of love and thought into their food. Dessert was a delicious panettone served with lebkuchen and custard which went down very nicely. A big thank you to them and also to Brendan who did all the washing up!
After lunch, we were entertained by Sue Old, a wonderful songstress, who has such a special way of connecting with each and every person. We’re all big fans, and a little birdy tells me the two Margarets raved about her on their way home! What a joy to see our lovely Bob, who enjoys dancing, up and on his feet showing his appreciation for the music.
There was also an ‘Instant Panto’ with Sarah and Liz. Together we made up a story about Jack and the Beanstalk and added our own twist to it which resulted in 15-year-old Jack winning the World Cup! Instant Theatre is a great way to get everyone involved. It was developed by RG Gregory and Word And Action who I worked with many years ago.
Carol and Phyliss set up their Knitting Angels stall and sold their beautiful handiwork in aid of In Jolly Good Company. We are so grateful to these talented ladies.
A huge thank you goes to all of the wonderful volunteers for a superb Christmas meal and a jolly good day.
