Our Visit to St Giles House

The sunny ‘Jolly Day’ we spent visiting this beautifully restored house was joyful, fun and very memorable. Built in 1650, St Giles House is the family home of Nicholas Ashley-Cooper 12th Earl of Shaftesbury. Lord Shaftesbury, who is also patron of ‘In Jolly Good Company’ kindly agreed to us visiting his house and garden. Mark who was our enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide for the morning, treated us to an extensive tour. We felt very privileged and delighted to be there and Lord Shaftesbury joined us at the end for coffee and biscuits and answered our many questions. I am happy to say that several weeks later - people at the ‘Jolly Days’ are still talking about this incredible place and how much we enjoyed ourselves.
