JUNE NEWSLETTER

Welcome to our June round robin where you can find what we’ve been up to and most importantly, when and where our Jolly Days are happening this month.

A Jolly Big ‘Thank You’

To Dorset Tea who are supporting us as part of their Communi–Tea project. Their donation will enable us to buy some much needed new equipment for our allotment gardening group. Even better than this, they donated lots of delicious ‘Dorset Tea’ which will keep everyone happy at all our Jolly days.

There is even a beautiful Dorset Tea Towel which we will be presenting to our ‘Ace Washer Upper’ Brendan at Jolly St Giles. Brendan goes above and beyond to clear up after our delicious lunches and make our pots and pans sparkling clean. We had a glorious afternoon with the Dorset Tea Team, thankfully there was a gap in the weather and the sun came out.

The afternoon was made perfect by the addition of delicious scones, jam, cream, and meringues, expertly made, and personally delivered by Lisa Osman from ‘All Hallows Farmhouse’ in Wimborne St Giles. Thank you to Lisa for the delightful treats and her ongoing support for all things Jolly.

The early bird…

I was a guest on Steve Harris’s Breakfast show on Radio Solent on Thursday 30th May, and was up bright and early for our 7 am chat.

In Jolly Good Company are lucky to be one of 22 recipients of the Health and Wellbeing Fund in Dorset and BCP. This NHS funding is for projects providing early intervention to help people to stay well and live better at home.

The fund is administered by Dorset Community Foundation in partnership with NHS Dorset and Community Action Network, which is providing training and support for organisations like ours.

Join in the Jollities

We currently have a few spaces for anyone who would like to join in the fun at our Kingston Lacy Allotment Group, Jolly Shaftesbury, Jolly Blandford and our newest group Jolly West Moors. Please see the information below about where and when these groups meet. All are friendly, warm, accessible and open to all. Guests can attend alone or with a carer.

Each group has its own unique character and activities are tailored to suit the people attending. Most of our guests enjoy live music and we have been very happy to welcome back singer Susan Old who has been on a tour of all the Jolly Days.

Do get in touch for more information about our groups. You can attend for free, but voluntary donations are always welcome to help us to keep the Jolly Show on the road.

A musical treat

We were delighted to have a visit from the very talented Skittle Alley Strummers at our Jolly St Giles group. The children from Wimborne St Giles First School joined us which is always a special treat. It was lovely to see them enjoying the music as much as we did.
